Initial consultation - first step

What does this involve?

Initial consultation appointments are a first step to help us decide whether a full assessment is required. This session lasts 50 minutes and can be done in person or online. This is required if you go on to have a full assessment.

In this session we will:

  • Talk about the things you/your child are finding difficult
  • Explore your reasons for seeking an assessment and think about why this might be helpful for you/your child
  • Review relevant screening questionnaires which you will have been sent ahead of this session
  • Consider the pros and any cons to seeking an assessment
  • Allow space for you to ask any questions about ADHD or the assessment process
  • Provide a recommendation for the next steps

What happens after?

At the end of this session we will discuss whether a full diagnostic assessment is indicated. If this is not the case, we will discuss why and help you think about any other appropriate support you may require.
